Our skin is the largest organ on our body. Though it is soft and malleable, it is tough and resilient, protecting us from our external environment and hard at work repairing while we sleep. For all that it does to help our bodies function at its best, we don’t always treat it with the loving care it deserves. 

Cleansing is a small act of self love that is so important to set us up for the rest of our day, that we should devote to getting right. When we get this first step right, the rest of our skincare routine can fall into balance - leading to healthier and more resilient skin over time. For me, that means I avoid using harsh soaps, fragrance and synthetic chemical-laden products that strip and throw my skin out of balance. 

Creating Seas the Day cleanser has been a passion-filled journey. Working with a team of experienced scientists and formulators, we set out to create something truly unique - with the working code name “Dream cleanser”. It was ambitious but I knew that if we were to truly create something unique, we would have to put our whole heart and soul into it, and we did. To create our Dream cleanser, it had to be many things and we did not compromise on what was important to us, which were these things: being kind to our skin, planet and animals. 

pH balanced

Having used many natural cleansers on the market that stripped and dried out my skin severely, causing rosacea and breakouts, I knew that ours had to be pH balanced. I started testing out other bestselling natural cleansers on the market and found out that many had pH 7 and above. No wonder it was drying out and thinning my skin. Skincare that is pH balanced is so important and that’s not addressed enough. If your cleanser is throwing your skin out of balance, it is messing with the microbiome on your skin. There’s absolutely no need for anything more than a mild, gentle, pH balanced cleanser for your face to start your day off right. 

All-natural, plant-based and synthetic-free ingredients

For all that I do know, I’m humbled in knowing that there are still a lot I do not know about our bodies and the effects of the chemicals we are putting into and on our bodies everyday. For that,  I live a clean and toxin-free life as much as I possibly can by being mindful of what I eat and put on my body. Plant-based ingredients in skincare have evolved so much that for every synthetic ingredient out there, mother earth’s gifts are giving that to us in abundance and there’s no need for synthetic ingredients in skincare.

We formulated our cleanser with no nasties - no SLS, polyethylene glycols (PEGs), carbomers, phthalates, parabens, diethanolamine, many of which are still common in mainstream skincare products. These synthetic chemicals in skincare can be contaminated while being made, exposing our bodies to unnecessary toxins. Instead we have replaced these chemical functions with plant-based ingredients. 

Kind to planet and animals 

There are enough micro plastics, plastic sludge and toxins in our environment, our waterways, and our food chain that we do not need it in our skincare and being part of the problem. The long term effects of many chemicals in skincare on our environment, oceans and reefs are still very much unknown. What I do know is the importance of keeping our oceans pristine and ocean life thriving. Our planet, animals as well as humanity depends on it. Simple acts matter. Small changes matter. Each person’s actions matter. 

Exceptional Results

All of the above would not matter if we did not create a product that people would love using. I set out to create a cleanser that people could use everyday and fall in love with the simple daily act of cleansing. I often hear how our sponges made people love cleansing again and that warms my heart to hear every time. I hope to create the same ritual-loving experience with Seas the Day cleanser and have formulated it to work beautifully paired with our sponges, and used together creates an exceptionally unique cleansing experience.
